LCAC

Lorton Community Action Center [LCAC] is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for underprivileged individuals, families and children in the Lorton, Virginia area.

LCAC's mission can be broken down into two categories - assistance and outreach. LCAC provides food, financial, furniture and clothing assistance to individuals and families to prevent homelessness. LCAC's outreach services help to prepare children and families for the future. Our services are geared toward assisting families and individuals to "make it on their own." Our goal is to help families to improve their lives and assist them toward self-sufficiency. Click here to learn more about us.

Play Golf with the Hogettes!

This is your chance to meet the "Ultimate Redskins Fans", the Hogettes up close and personal. Boss Hogette Mikey T will be leading a foursome of players at this year's LCAC spring golf tournament. (Also watch this space for possible "surprise" players in this year's tournament.) Join the Hogettes for an exciting day of golf on May 9, 2008 at Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course. (Yes, you may ask why grown men don pig snouts and dresses to attend football games!) Cost is $125 per player or $450 for a team of four. This includes all green fees, a cart, snacks and a gourmet luncheon following the tournament at Madigan's Waterfront Restaraunt in Occoquan, VA (and a chance to talk to the Hogettes). A portion of the cost is tax-deductible. Register at: http://www.ebizsports.com/lcac.

LCAC is also seeking companies or individuals to "sponsor a hole" at the tournament. The cost for hole sponsorship is $1,000 which includes a foursome in the tournament, a sign at "your" hole, recognition in the golf brochure, a standing ovation at the golf luncheon and "thanks" in the South County Chronicle and on the LCAC website. Call Susan at 703-339-5161 ext. 18 or email susan@lortonaction.org for more details.

Organize a Food Drive for LCAC

Although LCAC’s food pantry is currently well stocked, it will be empty again soon.  Please sign up now to conduct a food drive for LCAC in early 2008.  This is a wonderful project for Scouts or other youth organizations and can fulfill Community Service hours for middle and high school students.  For more information or to sign up for a food drive, please contact Karlene@lortonaction.org or call 703-339-5161 x 15.
